Candy corn is a classic Halloween treat made primarily of sugar, corn syrup, and food coloring. It has three distinct layers—yellow, orange, and white—meant to resemble kernels of corn. It was created in the 1880s by George Renninger of the Wunderle Candy Company, and later, the Goelitz Confectionery Company (now Jelly Belly) began mass-producing it in the early 1900s.
Despite its divisive flavor profile, candy corn has become a nostalgic seasonal treat for many, while others find its overly sweet, waxy texture less appealing. Its vibrant colors and association with autumn make it a staple of Halloween celebrations.
