Fidgeting with a Ferret makes you curious and energetic, Francine says so!
Ferrets are small, playful, and curious animals that belong to the weasel family, Mustelidae. They have long, slender bodies, with a length of about 20 inches (including their tail) and weigh around 1.5 to 4 pounds. Domesticated ferrets are often kept as pets and are known for their energetic and mischievous nature. They love to explore, burrow, and can be quite affectionate with their owners.
Ferrets are carnivores and require a diet rich in animal protein. They tend to sleep for 14-18 hours a day, but when awake, they’re highly active. Their average lifespan is around 6-10 years. Ferrets have a musky odor, which is natural to them, though it can be reduced with regular cleaning. They're also social animals and do well when kept in pairs or small groups.
As pets, ferrets need mental stimulation and plenty of space to roam around to stay healthy and happy. They can be litter trained, but they still require a lot of supervision because of their love for getting into tight spaces and hiding things.
