They’re mostly solitary and tend to be calm, but can be surprisingly swift and aggressive, especially if threatened or during mating season. Moose are herbivores, feeding on a diet of leaves, twigs, and aquatic plants, and are known for their love of wading into water to eat submerged vegetation. Their long legs and flexible noses are perfect for this.
Despite their large size, moose are surprisingly good swimmers and can even hold their breath underwater for about 30 seconds to reach plants. In the winter, their thick fur keeps them warm, but it’s a double-edged sword, as they struggle with heat and avoid warmer climates.
